This deck started out as a clone from the Playing Board Games' "Patrice Hathaway Expanded" deck, with a few small modifications to start, to play into Patrice's forced discard.

Grizzled is purchased with Monster and Extradimensional as its traits, to help in particular with the Watcher, but hopefully will present itself as being useful at least for in dealing with many other enemies.

The deck is being built to stage Patrice mainly as a cluever, but with enough flexibility to hopefully get herself out of a jam without the need of a backup. (In this case, Leo Anderson). It is a blind run of Innsmouth on standard. Through the first two scenarios, she has been extremely effective at cluevering.

To that end, the goal is mulligan at the start for Cornered (which turns literally every card you have into an Unexpected Courage -- you're gonna have to toss those cards anyway), and then for Sixth Sense I think, especially if you want to come out swinging sucking up clues. If you miss, you miss. It won't take long until you see what you want.

With Moonstone and, eventually, homecoming king in play, your statline becomes 6-2-2-4, which is pretty respectable for dealing with the encounter deck in particular. Sword Cane can be used to smack or run from a beast in a pinch with , and most of your investigation/clue getting (Sixth Sense, Read the Signs, Drawn to the Flame) will use as well (the latter more indirectly). Once Moonstone gets replaced with Key of Ys, your stat line can rocket to 8-5-5-6 if you can toe that line, and you're kind of a veritable monster at that point, particularly if still pitching cards to Cornered.

Planned Upgrade Path:

"When you want it" upgrades that are more quality of life. I don't expect to actually make these modifications in this particular deck:

Other notes:

Notwithstanding the tempo drawback that can come with it inasmuch as it doesn't gain extra clues, Sixth Sense seemed like a good choice for Patrice on the basis that she hates moving if she can avoid it (since she can't burn cards on a move) and drawing symbols might then allow her to pluck clues off of connecting locations, as an alternative to moving. It's also not limited by charges, which is a nice perk. But with perhaps a bit more economy in this deck, Rite of Seeking is a fine choice.

Open to any and all comments. Though I've played the game almost 60 times, I'm still very tentative with deckbuilding!

Grizzled is intensely cool tech for this deck. Bravo on that strategy.

Any updates then? How did this go?

This went very well! A really fun deck to play, leaned in nicely to Patrice's forced discard, which was an unusual way to play! (Sorry it took me forever to reply; we stepped away from the game for a while for unrelated reasons and I stopped checking this site).
