Playthrough of 'Return to The Gathering' - Standard Difficulty

Hello! Thank you for checking out this deck. I'm working on a series of solo playthroughs of various campaigns with Investigators who were released for that campaign (or in some cases, the original campaign and doing a playthrough of the 'Return To' version). This is a Solo "Skids" O'Toole deck that is designed to be able to somewhat handle enemies, but in general, wants to sweep clues quickly and use his ability almost every turn if at all possible. Below I've included a play-by-play of my turns so you can see how the deck functioned and the route I took the Return to the Gathering. Feel free to leave any comments if you see mistakes I made in my playthrough or improvements you think I could make with the deck! This is my first real published deck, so any additional feedback would be welcomed.

Opening Hand:

Take the Initiative, Manual Dexterity, Emergency Cache, Quick Thinking, "Watch this!"

Play Emergency Cache. Use "Skids" O'Toole's for an extra action, play Enchanted Blade.

Mythos Phase: Draw Obscuring Fog.

First action is to Investigate, committing Take the Initiative. Testing a 6 Intellect vs. a Shroud of 5. Draw (-0). Succeed, discover the clue, discard Obscuring Fog.

Second action is to Move from the Study to the Guest Hall.

Third action is to Move from the Guest Hall to the Bedroom.

Draw Perception during Upkeep.

End of Turn: 0 Damage, 0 Horror, 5 Resources.

Mythos Phase: Draw Swarm of Rats.

First action is to Fight with the Enchanted Blade. Testing a 4 Combat vs. a Combat of 1. Draw .

Second action is to Fight with the Enchanted Blade again. Testing a 4 Combat vs. a Combat of 1. Draw 0. Discard Swarm of Rats.

Third action is to Investigate. Testing a 3 Intellect vs. a Shroud of 2. Draw 0. Collect the Clue.

Use "Skids" O'Toole's for an extra action, move from Bedroom to Guest Hall.

Draw Quick Thinking during Upkeep.

Mythos Phase: What's Going On?! advances. Chose to randomly discard 1 card, discarding Survival Knife. Draw Grave-Eater.

First action is to Fight with the Enchanted Blade, spending 1 charge. Testing a 5 Combat vs. a Combat of 2. Draw .

Second action is to Fight with the Enchanted Blade, committing Vicious Blow. testing a 5 Combat vs. a Combat of 2. Draw (+2). Succeed, gaining 2 Resources for "Skids" O'Toole's ability, discard Grave-Eater.

Third action is to Move from the Guest Hall to the Bathroom.

Use "Skids" O'Toole's for an extra action, Investigate with a 3 Intellect vs. a Shroud of 1. Draw -2. Succeed and get the Clue.

Draw "Watch this!" during Upkeep.

Turn 5:

Mythos Phase: Draw Chill from Below. Commit Quick Thinking and "Watch this!", spending 2 Resources for "Watch this!". Testing a Willpower of 4 vs. a 3. Draw +1. Succeed and pass the test, gaining 4 Resources.

Free action from Quick Thinking action is to Move from the Bathroom to the Guest Hall. Spend the 3 Clues necessary to advance Mysterious Gateway.

Move to the Hallway, and test a 2 Willpower against a 4. Draw (-1). Fail, take 1 Horror for the 's effect, and discard 3 cards at random, discarding Think on Your Feet, Backstab, and Perception.

First action is to move from the Hallway to the Attic, taking 1 Horror.

Second action is to Investigate, testing a 3 Intellect vs. a 1 Shroud. Draw -2. Pass, discover a clue.

Third action is to Investigate, testing a 3 Intellect vs. a 1 Shroud. Draw (0). Succeed, discovering the second clue.

Use "Skids" O'Toole's for an extra action, Move from the Attic to the Hallway.

Draw Flashlight during Upkeep.

Mythos Phase: Draw Dissonant Voices.

First action is to Move from the Hallway to the Cellar.

Second action is to Investigate, testing a 3 Intellect vs. a 2 Shroud. Draw (+2). Succeed, gaining 2 Resources for "Skids" O'Toole's ability, discover the Clue.

Third action is to Move from the Cellar to Ghoul Pits. Test via the Forced effect on Ghoul Pits, committing Narrow Escape. Testing a 6 Agility vs. an Agility test of 3. Draw 0. Succeed.

Discard Dissonant Voices at the end of turn.

Draw Hospital Debts during Upkeep.

End of Turn: 0 Damage, 2 Horror, 9 Resources.

Mythos Phase: Draw Ancient Evils.

Resolve the action on Hospital Debts twice.

First action is to play Flashlight.

Second action is to use the ability on Flashlight to Investigate. Testing a 3 Intellect vs. a 2 Shroud. Draw 0. Succeed, discover the Clue.

Third action is to move from the Ghoul Pits to the Cellar.

Use "Skids" O'Toole's for an extra action, Move from the Cellar to the Hallway.

Draw Lone Wolf during Upkeep.

End of Turn: 0 damage, 2 Horror, 4 Resources.

Mythos Phase: Draw Rotting Remains. Testing 2 Willpower vs. a 3. Draw (-2). Take 3 Horror.

First action is to play Lone Wolf.

Resolve the action on Hospital Debts twice.

Second action is to Draw Steadfast.

Third action is to Draw Manual Dexterity.

Draw Manual Dexterity during Upkeep.

Advance The Barrier, revealing the Parlor, putting Lita Chantler into play there, and spawning the Ghoul Priest in the Hallway, engaged with "Skids" O'Toole.

End of Turn: 0 Damage, 5 Horror, 2 Resources.

Turn 9:

Mythos Phase: Draw Rotting Remains. Commit Steadfast to the test, testing a 4 Willpower vs. a 3. Draw -1. Succeed (phew!).

Gain 1 Resource from Lone Wolf at the start of my turn.

Resolve the action on Hospital Debts twice (debt is paid - for now).

First action is to Evade the Ghoul Priest, committing Manual Dexterity. Testing Agility 6 vs. Evade value of 4. Draw -2. Succeed, exhaust and disengage form the Ghoul Priest. Draw Narrow Escape from the effect of Manual Dexterity.

Second action is to Fight the Ghoul Priest with Enchanted Blade, spending 1 charge. Testing Fight 5 vs. a Fight value of 4. Draw -2. Fail, but no Retaliate because the Ghoul Priest is exhausted.

Third action is to Fight the Ghoul Priest with Enchanted Blade, spending 1 charge. Testing Fight 5 vs. a Fight value of 4. Draw 0. Succeed, putting 2 damage on the Ghoul Priest.

Ghoul Priest readings during Upkeep; draw Take the Initiative during Upkeep.

Mythos Phase: Rise of the Ghouls advances. Shuffle the discard pile into the encounter deck, discarding cards until I draw Grave-Eater for the effect of advancing Rise of the Ghouls.

Draw The Zealot's Seal for my Encounter card. Commit Take the Initiative, testing Willpower 5 vs. a 4. Draw (-2). Take 1 Damage from the effect, and randomly discard Vicious Blow and Narrow Escape.

Gain 1 Resource from Lone Wolf at the start of my turn.

First action is to Evade the Ghoul Priest, committing Manual Dexterity. Testing Agility 6 vs. Evade value of 4. Draw -2. Succeed, exhaust and disengage form the Ghoul Priest. Draw Drawing the Sign from the effect of Manual Dexterity.

Second action is to Fight the Ghoul Priest with Enchanted Blade, Testing Fight 4 vs. a Fight value of 4. Draw -2. Fail, but no Retaliate because the Ghoul Priest is exhausted.

Third action is to Evade the Grave-Eater, testing an Agility of 4 vs. a 2. Draw -2. Succeed, disengage and exhaust the Grave-Eater.

Use "Skids" O'Toole's for an extra action, Move from the Hallway to the Parlor.

Draw "Watch this!" during Upkeep.
