Running through The Forgotten Age blind on easy with Ursula Downs as our partner. Our role will be handling almost all of the enemy management (to free up as many of Ursula's actions as possible for getting clues), while also picking up our own clues when we get the chance. I've never played a rogue before, and I looked on ArkhamDB to try to find a solution but it seemed most Finns on here are built more as green seekers than fighters! This is my attempt to switch that around and help Ursula out.

Also from snooping around Finn decklists, I'm under the impression that there will be a story ally at some point that I will very much want to pick up.

Peter Sylvestre and then later Delilah O'Rourke are there to make sure I'm a reliable evader (on easy) so I'll be replacing both copies of Streetwise with Delilah O'Rourke.

In terms of enemy management I'm not entirely confident because I'm going into this campaign blind. I'm told you don't really need a dedicated fighter, but better to have too many guns than too few probably. I was going to open items of my complete Arkham Horror collection in release order, but the .25 Automatic and Delilah O'Rourke looked way too good for an enemy-focused Finn build, so I'm opening their corresponding packs. To get to 4 guns I just added a single copy of .41 Derringer to supplement the .25s and Finn's Trusty .38. I considered the Mauser C96, but even on easy the measly fight value of 4 that it gives Finn in the first scenario (or any scenario before we get Delilah out) looks really unappealing and unreliable. We also include Hatchet Man and Sneak Attack for more damage on tap.

When we don't want to kill things (because of vengeance I guess?) we have Slip Away to deal with hunters and Sneak By to help our economy. "Watch this!" and Lone Wolf are our only two other economy cards, other than generally trying to maintain a low cost curve (no Leo De Luca here).

Fight or Flight for big end of scenario turns, and Lucky! for when we draw that -3 when we really didn't want to.

Investigation: Since all of our static boosts are in agility and combat, but we also want to help Ursula get clues sometimes, we have a single copy of perception, at least for the first scenario. I can see upgrading out of it pretty quickly. At first I thought I would run the level 0 Lockpicks to synergize with Finn's Smuggled Goods, but ended up going with Flashlights because they're cheaper and more reliable, plus they give me an excuse to have Sleight of Hands in my deck prior to adding their true purpose later on (the Lupara).

Other cards that are left out:

  1. Charon's Obol: no.
  2. Waylay: a lot of people include this in Finn. It seems pretty good honestly, and I might swap it in later with Adaptable. The top review on the card's page is pretty negative though so I'm not sure, it does seem like it would suck to fail a test after having spent 3 resources on the event. Maybe it's not as big of a problem in easy though?
  3. Pickpocketing: initially included because it seems good with Finn, but people keep saying level 0 is really bad so I'll just grab the level 2 version later.
  4. Leo De Luca: So much money to only boost Finn's turns by 25% as opposed to the 33% improvement most investigators get. Also Peter is better for the static boost and horror soak that Finn will likely take with his low willpower.
  5. Dr. Milan Christopher: Already taken by Ursula. Even if he wasn't, Dr. Milan doesn't play into the reliable enemy manager archetype that I want as well as Peter and Delilah. It does feel bad to lose out on the resources though.
  6. Logical Reasoning: Ursula snagged it. If she ever gets rid of it with other cards I'll have to find a way to Adaptabley squeeze it in here.
  7. Backstab: Seems good. Maybe it's better than Sneak Attack on easy? With fewer bad tokens, maybe the reliability of testless damage from sneak attack becomes less valuable than the one extra damage here. Really not sure about this one. Should I switch this one in instead?
  8. Take Heart: This one I really like but opted not to go with. It would be pretty great to have in my hand on one of the willpower tests I know I'm going to fail, but I don't know yet how often that will come and how reliable this card will be, or if it will be effectively a dead draw that just sits in my hand for many turns on end. Treachery willpower tests are basically the only thing that I would be confident enough about failing on easy due to Finn's great other stats.
  9. Emergency Cache: Hopefully this deck's economy is good enough without the cash.
