Introduction:

With a stat line of 3-3-3-3, Jenny Barnes is the first of a kind of investigator who needs to boost themselves in one way or another to achieve anything.

With this limited card pool, we will show how to use resources to guarantee success at any test with Jenny's purchase power.

Take your Twins, and let's go!

This Deck is part of a series of Decks created for the release of the Revised The Dunwich Legacy Campaign. Find the other Beginner Deck Guides for the other investigators here:

If you do not own The Edge of the Earth, an alternative only using the Revised Core and The Dunwich Legacy is available at the bottom in "Make your own Deck!"

Overview:

Difficulty: ★★☆☆☆

Enemy Management: ★★★★☆

Clue-getting: ★★★★☆

Encounter protection: ★★★★☆

Survivability: ★★★☆☆

Economy: ★★★★★

Card Drawing: ★★☆☆☆

Main Strategy:

Step 1: Make a lot of Money with your Passive, Emergency Cache, Lone Wolf, Hot Streak, The Red Clock (5).

Step 2: Spend all that money to boost your skills with Arcane Studies and Hard Knocks or to buy extra actions with Leo De Luca or extra Ammo on your Jenny's Twin .45s

Step 3: Watch the Old Ones turn into ashes as you sip your well-deserved Martini Cocktail.

Make Money:

There are 3 main ways of generating resources with Jenny Barnes:

• The Passive Way: Jenny's Passive gives you an extra resource every turn. Pair it with Lone Wolf, and you have 3 resources at the start of each turn.

• The Active Way: Emergency Cache and Hot Streak are here to turn one action into good ca$h. Play it while unengaged with an enemy and then go and smash it.

• The Red Clock (5): At every beginning of a turn, you can take the resource on The Red Clock and get +4 at your first test (so technically 4 resources that you do not have to spend). With Lone Wolf, you now have 1 test that you don't need to boost anymore and 4 resources at least at the beginning of each turn to spend on tests.

•• You can also wait to get another charge to help Searching for Izzie with 3 moves without provoking Actions of Opportunity as it doesn't require you to spend an action.

•• While you are playing with The Red Clock (2), you have to either take the resource or add a charge, meaning that you have the +3 once every 2 turns and +1 resource every other turn.

Spend Money:

• Jenny's Twin .45s is an obvious way to spend your money: the more you spend, the more Ammo you get. Make sure to be fully set up first and keep it for the end of a scenario, before a boss or something.

• Arcane Studies and Hard Knocks allow you to boost any test once they are both on the table. The Mythos Phase, Finding Clues and Fighting are now trivial with to your purchase power.

Boost your Tests:

If you are low on money or you want to save for an expensive Lion, you also have multiple ways to boost a test:

The Red Clock that gives you +4 as mentioned earlier

• Savant that brings you on any test.

Quick Thinking that gives you a and gives you an extra action if you succeed. With the .41 Derringer and the Switchblade, this is a good introduction to the "succeed by X" mechanic.

• Lockpicks bring you to a base of 6 for 1 test per turn.

Note: You cannot commit cards with icons to the Lockpicks as this is a test to which you add you , and you can only commit cards with Icons matching the test you are performing.

• Flashlight before you purchase the Lockpicks is a great way to get an indirect +2 to . It is better though because if the shroud is 2 or less, you cannot fail unless you pull the .

• Guts/Perception/Overpower/Manual Dexterity to boost any test you would be passing. These cards bring you to at least 5 to the stat you are testing, with the ability to bring another card back, which is great to fish for the best cards in your Deck.

Other Cards:

Black Market is great because it compensates for the lack of a reliable drawing engine. You have potentially 5 more cards in your hand for a whole turn while ignoring weaknesses.

• Bandolier is here to be able to keep a Lockpicks while playing your Jenny's Twin .45s.

• Prepared for the Worst is to make sure that you have at least 1 weapon on the table before you draw your first enemies.

• Elusive + Scout Ahead are here to mitigate the impact of your permanent research of the poor Izzie by helping you get away from potential enemies and moving faster across the board.

Upgrade Path:

Link to the Full xp Deck

• Flashlight x2 Lockpicks x2 - 2xp - Total 2xp

•• Increase your chances of success, and most importantly, play them once, and it is almost never out of charge.

• Scout Ahead x1 The Red Clock (2) x1 - 4xp - Total 6xp

•• Get a good boost every 2 turns and an extra resource every other turn. If Searching for Izzie shows up, you can wait for 2 charges to move without AoO.

• Guts x1 + Overpower x1 Black Market - 4xp - Total 10xp

•• To dig in your Deck much more reliably, especially now that The Red Clock is in there.

• .41 Derringer x2 Switchblade x2 - 6xp - Total 16xp

•• This improves your set-up time, costs less, and makes it easier for you to deal a significant amount of damage to enemies.

• Emergency Cache x2 Hot Streak x2 - 8xp - Total 24xp

•• More money for more success

• The Red Clock (2) x1 The Red Clock (5) x1 - 6xp - Total 30xp

•• Finally, time for the real deal, more money, more reward.

Prepared for the Worst x1 + Scout Ahead x1 Savant x2 - 2xp - Total 32xp

•• Gives you better chances of success in tests, while other upgrades vastly cover the cards you replace in your Deck.

Make your own Deck!:

If you have the whole collection, have fun with this Underworld Support Jenny posted by MythosBusters

If you do not own the EotE Investigator box, you can use This 0xp Deck that evolves in this with Experience.

• If you are playing this Deck with only 1 collection and multiple of my pre-made Decks: BruiZ-oey, Clue Vacuuming Rex, True Ma-Jim or Pete and the Underdog, you can distribute the cards as follow:

•• Give Dr. Milan Christopher, Magnifying Glass to Rex Murphy

•• Give Scavenging and Ice Pick (3) to "Ashcan" Pete.

•• Give 1 copy of Prepared for the Worst to "Ashcan" Pete and Jenny Barnes as Zoey Samaras already has 4 weapons.

•• Give 1 copy of Jury-Rig to Jim Culver and 1 to "Ashcan" Pete.

•• Give 1 Ward of Protection to Rex Murphy and 1 to Jim Culver.

•• Give 2 Scout Ahead to Zoey Samaras and upgrade Jenny Barnes with The Red Clock earlier.

•• Give 2 Bruiser to "Ashcan" Pete and go for the Cyclopean Hammer for Zoey Samaras.

•• Give Divination to Jim Culver.

The link to " Underworld Support Jenny posted by MythosBusters" does not work. It says the deck doesn't exist.

Thanks @tinynanami for the feedback, I updated the link!

Hope you enjoyed the Guide and the Deck if you played it!

Do you include the return to noz or tde in these builds? Really like the revised limitations as a challenge mode.

Apr 05, 2022 Valentin1331 · 67430

Hey @llamaman88, these Decks are mainly dedicated to Beginner players looking for inspiration at Deckbuilding with the new Revised Sets. As the Return to are often the last things people buy, I did not include them. I hope it makes sense to you :)

Quick question - The starter deck say that I get 2x Lone Wolf, but it says limit 1 per investigator. How do I include 2 in my starter deck?

Apr 08, 2022 Valentin1331 · 67430

Hey @Primary_Guy, I hope you like the deck and if you play it please share your feedback!

The « Limit 1 per investigator » clause is actually only regarding copies in play. The same goes for Dark Horse, you can have 2 in your deck for consistency but only one on the table.

I hope it’s clearer :)

@llamaman88 That is very helpful! Thank you!

I am gonna try her, along with Nathaniel Cho. :)

May 10, 2022 Valentin1331 · 67430

Nice @ibisshagrat, I hope you like it, and let me know how it went!

Also if you have the Winifred Habbamock Deck there are a few improvements that you could do, like replacing Hard Knocks and Arcane Studies with Streetwise and Physical Training.

@Valentin1331 I have one basic core, all initial decks and Dunwich. I am starting. I changed the only initial of the Edge of the world and and second copies of the core for Winifred Habbamock cards. I have just published Nathaniel Cho and Jenny Barnes decks. Let's see if I can start the campaign this week.

Just started a Carcosa run with MoJenny and your Akachi Ony-Elemental Mage decks. First scenario went pretty well for us. I was raking in the dough, and Akachi shrivelling everything in sight.

A couple minor errata:

Nov 11, 2023 Paxson · 1

Aren’t you using Bandolier wrong? Lockpicks aren’t a weapon asset so if you’ve got Jenny’s guns out you wouldn’t be able to play lockpicks?

Feb 13, 2024 Qslick · 1

Lockpicks aren’t a weapon, yes; but the guns are, so the Bandolier works for them.

Just wanted to say this deck is super fun. Thank you for helping me be better at the game :o)

Can I run this deck solo through Carcosa?
