THE WAGNATI STRATTY
This deck punches with and tanks the Chaos Bag.
+ CARDS
Holy Rosary and the Four of Cups all give +, which is what we want for fighting.
FIGHT
Armageddon, Spectral Razor, and Storm of Spirits are our main attack cards. The Sword Cane allows us to straight-punch with our for 1 damage. Hypnotic Gaze can also combo with Premonition to deal huge damage to a boss.
TANK
Deny Existence, Eucatastrophe, Premonition, and Seal of the Elder Sign all tank the Chaos Tokens coming out of the bag.
SPELL CASTING
Arcane Initiate helps us find our spells, plus Robes of Endless Night and Uncage the Soul help us cast them for nothing.
STAYING ALIVE
As Father Mateo starts on 2 Physical and 2 Mental Trauma, the Thermos is a great healer (if a bit expensive) and the Hallowed Mirror keeps us and our friends from dying.
ERATA
- St. Hubert's Key is a second Holy Rosary
- David Renfield is a second Arcane Initiate
Upgrade Notes
- Upgrade 1x Storm of Spirits to Storm of Spirits (4XP - 2 for Arcane Research)
- Remove 2x Wither and add 1x Armageddon (4XP)
- Upgrade 2x Hypnotic Gaze to Hypnotic Gaze (4XP)
- Remove 2x Delve Too Deep and add 2x Robes of Endless Night (4XP)

Sep 13, 2021Hey Soul Turtle! For some background, Mateo has 2 extra Physical Trauma from a previous campaign: I didn't really expect anyone other than my friend to comment on this! We completed Dreamlands and are going back to Return to Carcosa. I chose Armageddon over Shrivelling because I don't want to take additional Horror, because we're planning to do Return to Carcosa on Hard Mode (given we're carrying our characters over), but Azure Flame is a good call! The Thermos is also good because my co-investigator also took 2 Physical Trauma from the last campaign, so I can double-heal him too. Thanks for the tips! |
Why are we running Armageddon over Azure Flame/Shrivelling? It just costs more for less charges, since the deck has no curse synergy. It's not worth paying more for less just to dodge the occasional 1 damage/horror drawback.
I'm not sure why you say that Mateo starts with physical traumas, he just starts with 2 mental trauma from Arcane Research. Accordingly I don't find Thermos to be a good card here. 2x Deny Existence (5) is enough healing/prevention, and extremely efficient at doing so.
