This card is one that just keeps on giving!

The initial "Ready asset" text might not seem immediately useful, and really, this is something you will more often than not just ignore.

The bonus Fight action, this is gold. It's very common that you're stuck staring at an enemy 1 location away because you're unable to tackle it in 1 turn with your loadout, the bonus action via Galvanize can fix this issue. Additionally, there is also the not unusual case of missed attacks! Redoing a missed attack when you would otherwise be out of actions, will, save, lives.

This card is a hugely costly card for a deck, but even if you dont have the funds or incentive to use this to fight, you can commit it for 2 icons like a Guts, this also allows you to play this card in the usual Guts cardslot, which can really smooth things out in terms of deckspace (I.E, dont think of Galvanize as a new event, think of it of a Guts upgrade that also has an expensive but useful clutch action.

Oh, and when you start building up XP, you can go back to that asset-ready mechanic and giggle with glee Think: Beat Cop or Agency Backup ;)

Here is a list of things you might unexhaust for fun and profit:

Agency Backup. Alice Luxley. Beat Cop. Blessed Blade. Boxing Gloves (when youre being swamped). Kerosene. Stick to the Plan. Telescopic Sight (double tap!). Well Prepared.

For level 0 assets, it can ready Grete. Kinda hard to use, but still neat. — SGPrometheus · 745
Or Alice if you picked up several clues, which can happen trough agency, roland, evidence, scene of the crime or grete — Django · 4854
Friendly reminder that this can ready stick to the plan. — ironbrw · 15

Absolutely stupid with Butterfly Swords(5).

You can hit and exhaust the Butterfly Swords for a 3 damage attack combo, and then string it again for each Galvanize you have provided you hit the attacks. This card has the potential to do 3 damage fast in that context. Which is extremely good.

I'm playing Lily Chen in Edge of the Earth right now, and the boss stomp combo is Balance of Body into Fang of Tyr'thrha (blink to boss), Butterfly Swords (attack twice), Sweeping Kick (evade), Butterfly Swords, Butterfly Swords (exhaust), then drop Galvanize(s) if I think I can finish out in one round. It's 13 damage if everything hits (sans the Vicious Blows), and Galvanize adds 3 each.

The burst is unreal.

Q: Can Galvanize be used even if you do not control an exhausted Guardian asset (or no Guardian asset at all), simply to gain a bonus fight action?

A: It sure can! Generally speaking, in the absence of the word “then” or any other text that would infer that one effect is conditional on another effect functioning, you do as much as you can in all instances. In this case, there’s no text that says that the additional action is dependent on the asset being readied, so you can absolutely do one without doing the other. Enjoy, MJ Newman

This with Quickdraw Holster gives you three attacks for the price of none!

200 Characters filler text: Lets me think about playing Nathaniel Cho with a gun in the holster and his gloves on. Somewhat funny to imagine him fiddling frantically first to get the gun out of the holster, second struggling to pull the trigger and all that twice in a row. Maybe the enemy is damaged just by watching the process in agony. 200 characters done.

Galvanize is a card in need of good targets. Guardian assets that you want to use multiple times in a round are relative rare, most common targets would probably be Agency Backup, Beat Cop or Well Prepared. I've also tried this with Nathaniel Cho with Boxing Gloves to some success, since it can be found by the gloves as well.

Note that if you cannot make use of the ready effect, Galvanize is relatively inefficient for what it does; contrast Swift Reflexes, Shortcut, and Taunt. That two resource cost isn't cheap at all.

Is this right? Enchant Weapon exhausts, not the Hammer. Galvanize can only ready an Asset. Since the exhausted card is an event, this wouldn't work? — acotgreave · 782
Oh darn, you're right. It doesn't work. — suika · 9254
Butterfly swords + Galvanise, fast speed 3 damage attack seems pretty worth it. but I agree you probably need the "potential" to ready a good asset in guardian to want to include this, I think 2 resource for an attack is fair, but it has to do more than that or you'd just use counterpunch. — Zerogrim · 284
Tony might like it with "Quickdraw Holster". Empty the 5 ammo from a "Colt Vest Pocket" in 0 to 1 actions. (You get 1 free action from "Galvanize", two from the "Quickdraw Holster" and possibly 1 from a bounty.) But that's a three card combo. — Susumu · 330

QUESTION: Must the extra fight action be a basic fight action, or can you also use a trigerred fight action? — jobib · 1
