First goal of this deck was to build a Tony deck that had a lot of fight actions per round. The end goal is to lean into:
- Bounties
- Haste (2)
- Leo De Luca (1)
- Garrote Wire (2)
Making it possible to reach 7 Fight actions on many rounds in the late game.
Secondly, I've wanted to try to build a functional deck with Underworld Support. Not necessarily because that is stronger, but because it forces a more varied game plan, which in turn can be more fun to play as every game is unique.
And here he is, Monotony Morgan!
Enemy Management
Ideally, we find two Tony's .38 Long Colt, with the help of a mulligan and perhaps Prepared for the Worst. Barring that, our second option is Switchblade. Sleight of Hand'ing out .45 Thompson is also fun.
Thanks to Underworld Support, Tony's .38 Long Colt is a bit easier to find. It is also the only card there are 2 of in the deck.
Building board state is important as we want high to ensure we always hit. Once leveled into, Geas and Delilah O'Rourke means you have base of 7.
When playing Geas, pick Skills. That means we cannot commit on our own turn, but we can still commit to our own tests during the Mythos Phase, and to other investigators turns. And with our reasonably high , we usually hit without the need for committing skill cards.
Survivability
His 2 and 2 means he does take some punishment from the encounter deck.
"If it bleeds..." and Emergency Aid, plus our allies help us stay alive.
Also, Take the Initiative has 3 during the Mythos phase, and we also have Manual Dexterity and Guts and Steadfast in a pinch.
Clue Finding
With his 3 , Tony can pick the odd clue on lower shroud locations. And on idle rounds, use Haste (2) to Investigate a 3rd time for free. For tougher locations Breach the Door can bring the shroud down to manageable levels.
Kicking the Hornet's Nest also picks a clue, while digging for an enemy to fight.
With Geas and Tristan Botley in play, we can be at 5 , so later in the campaign, picking clues during downtime should be very doable.
Resources & Cards
Tony's bounties generate 1 resource each, and by killing enemies with bounties with the Tony's .38 Long Colt, we get new bounties to place on enemies. Tony's also generates bounties. That means that in most games, there will be additional resources coming in as enemies gets laid to rest.
There's also the one copy of Faustian Bargain.
Decorated Skull (0) is also interesting. It isn't a very strong card normally, but it costs nothing to put out, and we have actions to build board state, so it will slowly build up to a time when grabbing cards and resources is needed. When we have Haste (2) in play and Decorated Skull (3), it is quite a bit more effective. Kill two monsters through Fight activations, then tap Haste (2) to activate the skull for 3 resources and 3 cards.
