Roland slumped in his chair. In the end it was his fault for insisting to be discharged earlier than the doctors recommended. He lifted the porcelain cup with his left hand and watched it tremble. When focused on just this motion Roland could avoid spilling the hot tea. He put the cup back on his desk and switched to his dominant hand. No problems there. He drained the cup and returned to flipping through the report.

“Suppose everything in here is accurate,” Roland murmured to himself.

It was one heck of an assumption to make. For one, the report run counter to Professor Dyer’s stated purpose. Of course someone would want to check on an entire alien settlement in the middle of the most inhospitable continent on Earth. That’s what humans did. Never mind the scientists and their curiosity, someone had to reassure the people at the top that these creatures at Antarctica present no actual threat.

“It would be trivial to arrange,” Roland allowed his thoughts to wander.

On the other hand, the Bureau seemed receptive for once. If his superiors wanted to sideline him from the previous case it would have been more convenient for them to insist on staying put at the hospital until his arm healed. There was no reason to send an agent to the edge of the Earth unless there was something important for him to do there. Roland still didn’t believe everything he was reading, but resolved to act as if the evidence Professor Dyer gathered was genuine.

He flexed his left hand two or three times. It still hurt. It distracted him.

I was about to comment that the Hyperphysical Shotcaster underperformed but then near the end of the final scenario it removed Frozen in Fear. It won me the campaign and allowed Roland to return home to rest.

Or perhaps the federal agent should solve one more case? Feel free to suggest a side-scenario.
