Ladies and gentlemen, behold the man who sold his soul for a few sleight-of-hand tricks and now has to pay the mortgage to Nyarlathotep himself! If you are looking for a Dexter Drake deck that doesn't just defeat monsters, but does so with the flair of someone who knows the world ends on Tuesday, you've come to the right place.
This build embraces chaos (literally and figuratively) by utilizing the Blurse (Curse) mechanic to fuel spells that would make a Miskatonic librarian weep.
The Repertoire
The engine of this deck is a macabre dance between risk and reward. We use Faustian Bargain to fill the chaos bag with those delicious purple tokens in exchange for resources—because, let’s be honest, who needs luck when you have cash and black magic?
-
list text hereThe Toys of Destruction: With Armageddon and Eye of Chaos, curses stop being a nuisance and become fuel. Every time you pull one, the effect is boosted. It’s like Cthulhu giving you a pat on the back (though probably to push you into the abyss).
-
list text hereThe Supporting Cast: Olive McBride is your best friend and worst nightmare; she’ll help you find those curses when you need them most (or die trying). David Renfield is here to provide political power and resources, as long as we don't mind him getting a bit... unstable.
-
list text hereStage Exit: Dexter’s ability to swap assets quickly with his investigator ability pairs beautifully with the Sword Cane, allowing you to slip in and out of sticky situations before the Great Old One even knows what happened.
The Applause
-
list text hereExplosive Economy: Between Faustian Bargain and Renfield, you’ll have plenty of cash to buy off wills or pay rent in Arkham.
-
list text hereVersatility: You have tools to investigate (Read the Signs) and fight (Spectral Razor) using your high Willpower.
-
list text herePure Theme: Playing this feels like a genuine gamble against destiny.
The Hecklers
-
list text hereMental Fragility: Holy Rosary is vital, but a couple of unlucky encounter cards can leave Dexter crazier than a guest at a Marsh family dinner.
-
list text hereSetup Dependent: If you don't draw your "Curse" spells early, you’re just filling the bag with negative tokens for nothing.
-
list text hereRussian Roulette: Sometimes, the curses just hate you. Accepting that is part of the show.
Critic’s Note: "When upgrading this deck, remember: Dexter isn't looking for redemption; he's looking for a standing ovation. If the chaos bag doesn't look like an oil slick full of purple tokens, you're doing it wrong."

Feb 17, 2026Ironic, don't you think? Though perhaps metaphors and similes aren't your thing. In any case, 'sleight of hand' would combo well with the 'sword cane'... you could always replace 'ethereal slip' with 'sleight of hand' to satisfy the review's taste for symbolism :P |
0/10 deck. This deck states "[Dexter Drake] sold his soul for a few sleight-of-hand tricks" but there's no copies of "Slight on Hand" in sight.
