How it plays
Primary clue engine: Int 4 + Mag Glass + Deduction/Perception; Working a Hunch for “now” clues.
Enemy/boss coverage: I’ve Got a Plan! for 2–3 damage bursts; Mind over Matter as a panic turn.
Fail-forward: Look What I Found! + Resourceful loops keep pace even on rough tokens.
Parleys & horror: 4 Will + Guts + Logical Reasoning covers Carcosa’s sanity tax.
Mulligan (in order)
Dr. Milan → Magnifying Glass → Strange Solution (so you can identify early) → Deduction / Working a Hunch.
Upgrade Plan
Minh — 20 XP, Taboo-ready
Track A — “Clue comfort” (plays like our original plan)
8 XP → Acidic Ichor (4) ×2 (after you research)
4 XP → Pathfinder (1→+1) ×2 (costs 2 XP each under Taboo)
4 XP → Deduction (2) ×2
4 XP → Working a Hunch (2) ×2 Total: 20 XP. Notes: keep Logical Reasoning (0) ×2 (still plenty for horror/“Frozen in Fear” style Terrors). This path maximizes clue tempo and table control; Jenny handles most finishing blows.
Track B — “Extra punch” (compensates for the Ichor nerf)
8 XP → Acidic Ichor (4) ×2
4 XP → Pathfinder (1→+1) ×2
4 XP → Deduction (2) ×2
4 XP → “I’ve Got a Plan!” (2) ×2 (Harvey starter)
Total: 20 XP.
Why this swap? IGaP (2) costs 2 resources (down from 3) and turns your banked clues into 3–4 damage spikes—perfect to finish Elites after Ichor’s now-2-damage poke.
Pilot tweaks with Taboo live
Treat Ichor as a repeatable 2-damage tool to soften or mop up; save IGaP (or Jenny’s events) for the big swings.
Pathfinder still gives you the “free move each turn” feeling; it just eats 2 XP per copy under Taboo, so buy it a notch later if XP is tight.
Expect Milan to fund you more slowly—plan on 1 resource/round unless you miss a turn of investigating.
Pairing with Jenny:
Jenny: Evade → Pickpocket(2) → Succeed-by draw (LCC) → finish with Cheap Shot/Backstab; use Streetwise to lock key tests; Lockpicks handles stray clues without taxing Minh. Hot Streak funds burst turns.
Minh: Pathfinder = free move every turn; Deduction(2) for 2-clue clears; Hunch(2) for awkward single clues; Ichor for elites/bosses; Logical Reasoning(1) to erase horror spikes.
