I played this alongside a Rita deck for the Dreamlands half of Dream-Eaters. Playing alongside Rita, the Mists of R'lyeh were a bit of a waste.
The original deck optimizes for spending as little as possible on spells by only upgrading one spell per scenario and saving 2 XP with Arcane Research. This really doesn't work for Dream-Eaters, where there are only 4 scenarios total. Given Luke's high sanity, I still think Arcane Research was worth it.
I might consider playing both Shortcut and Pathfinder. Shortcut is useful for moving other investigators around as well, especially with the very linear maps in Dream-Eaters. Shortcut is also 0 cost and fast. Pathfinder is more efficient if you draw it early, particularly in combination with Gate Box, but if I drew it late I usually never found an appropriate time to play it.
