Intro
Imagine, if you will. It is a typical day in Arkham. The weather is calm, the streets are lively, and a Byakhee screeches overhead. You've been working overtime as a Psychologist at the local hospital, helping calm the nerves of massive amount of new patients all rambling about some "weird animals" all over town. You finally decide you've had enough and are going to go to your favorite coffee shop in Rivertown and read the new book you have been dying to open. On your way to the shop, you run into your friends. They are panicking about "the end of the world" and "having to stop the cult" or whatever. This being exactly what you don't feel like dealing with, simply keep on walking. You sit down, enjoy your coffee and your book, and spend the rest of your day reading, all while keeping your easily excitable friends in your thoughts. Sure there are some distractions, but they were nothing you couldn't handle...
Summary
I need to be real with you. This deck is not the most action packed deck on the planet. It's a tried and true pure support deck. Your turns will go quickly, you wont take many tests, you wont even move much, but what you will do is have a MASSIVE impact on the success rate of your party. I love playing supporter/healer roles in all the games I play so I wanted to bring that same level of utility in here and Caroline is the way, I found, to do it.
Strategy
Honestly it's pretty simple. Archive of Conduits up and running as fast as possible (No Stone Unturned can help with this if you dont get it in your opening hand/mulligan) , get your leylines on everybody, kick back at your favorite location, HEAL. Each damage you heal resulting in a card draw is amazing , but what's even more crazy every horror you heal off an investigator is an extra upkeep phase for them (yourself included.) Soul Sanctification helps with the "what if there is no one to heal?" problem as it basically stacks unexpected courage while still pumping out that delicious econ.
Additional Considerations/Combos
• Leo was worth the extra 5 cards from Versatile, for me, because adding a 4th heal a round is just too good and it allowed me to add Motivational Speech to help with him as well as Pete
• Get your up as High as you can to help with enemy management (The little boost to is not bad either and with Magnifying Glass you can easily pick up the clues you need for Forewarned.
• Aside from enemies spawning on you, encounters are pretty much a dream having some mitigation built in but also utilizing the bonuses from Soul Sanctification there isn't really anything you need to be worried about.
• Using an action to move instead of heal can feel really annoying especially of you have to move across multiple spaces. Having a friend escort you wherever you need to go. (you're helping them so much it's the least they can do)
• Lastly, It may feel like Hypnotic Therapy might feel a bit useless here, but it actually has a unique purpose in this deck. The Additional horror heal each turn can really help pull your lower sanity people up from the brink.
Conclusion
I'll address the elephant in the room. This is a build that shines the more investigators there are. That being said. I ran this in a 2 person no combat run of Insmouth and it was crucial to keep my partner in crime (Trish) from falling. Also, probably the larger elephant, building a deck around one card. yeah, it's definitely risky. I may just be lucky, but there has only been 1 or 2 times where I didn't have it in had in the first three turns. However, if for you that doesn't happen, Carolyn can act as a mediocre cluver as well as providing some additional skill support.
Again, this deck isn't for everyone, but watching the faces of your fellow players as you do so much for them without moving an inch had me rolling in laughter.
