With 2 tool slots from joe’s guns and 2 slots from upgraded bandolier, you can get +4 book and +3 brain from magnifying glasses and hawkeye cameras (and bandolier)
Add blue holy rosary to that for 1 more brain, and you’ll be dumping blesses into the bag
Dr milan and death tarot then get you to 10 book.
You end up with 6/10/4/2 stats, eating all the clues and being okay at fighting with his guns and 2 extra ammo.
There is a lot of search to find your guns or whatever your missing piece is…. Tetsuo, Mr Rook, eurek!, no stone unturned.
