THE STORY:

He stared into the HALLOWED MIRROR, eyes haggard and bruised from lack of sleep. With trembling fingers, Mark held the photograph of SOPHIE and stared for a moment. It gave him SOMETHING WORTH FIGHTING FOR, but he didn't know if he had TRUE GRIT to pull this off. He'd been ON THE HUNT a long time now and grabbing that ENCHANTED BLADE had been nothing but an ACT OF DESPERATION. He didn't think it would work when he helped that BEAT COP in the alley. But one VICIOUS BLOW and the thing had burst into a fine mist.

One big HEROIC RESCUE. But he wasn't ready to ditch the .45 THOMPSON, yet. He liked to be PREPARED FOR THE WORST. Some called him paranoid, some thought he just suffered from SHELL SHOCK, but they hadn't seen what he had. They hadn't been there!

They took a SHORTCUT back to his place after.

He heard a growl from the GUARD DOG outside, sucked up his SECOND WIND and moved quickly. This was THE HOME FRONT, but he knew damn well he wasn't safe. "LET ME HANDLE THIS!", he called to the cop he'd met in the alley. He thought th kid had some guts on him... "You put a bandage on that cut. I keep a FIRST AID kit under the sink. EMERGENCY CACHE for moments just like this."

THE GUIDE:

Some fairly standard "Monster smashing" stuff here, but as I've learned you definitely need to be a bit more well rounded to succeed in this game. So Mark has a built in Skill boost for those sticky situations, but I threw in a bit all-rounder "healing" to help him cope with physical and sanity damage. Act of Desperation is there so that he can throw his sword or empty gun at the bad guys, of course. He's going to be "On the Hunt" when he can so that he can just lay down the pain, but I figure a Shortcut would be mighty helpful. He's here to protect and defend. No muss or fuss involved.
