I always forget about Scavenging. Yes, I would assume it does work with Scavenging because of the timing.

It sure does. It has almost the same timing as the AoD-Yorick-loop, people have used for ages. Afaik, Scavenging is after ST.6 (determine success), Yorick after ST.7 (defeat = apply skill test result), but that does not matter, the cost to discard the item has been piad, before the skill test even initiated.
