Welcome to my very first beginners guide!

If you're anything like me then you constantly invite people over to try and learn the game so that they can play with you.

People at work, people at school, people walking their dogs, who cares! Everyone's welcome to try and learn the game and play!

With this in mind I've experienced that some investigators are easier to pick up than others and some cards are really hard to understand if you don't understand the mechanics correctly. That is why I have prepared beginners decks for you to make this deck for your beginner friend so that he/she/they can learn the game and it's mechanics without having to read laps of texts.

Lastly I just want to point out that these aren't necessarily great decks. They are made out of cards that have little text and are simple but still introduce the player to different mechanics of the game, including , and Fast. They are meant to be played without Taboo.

My idea with this Zoey Samaras deck is to show a money driven deck based on Physical Training. That is why the splash slots include Faustian Bargain and Lone Wolf.

You can explain that there is different builds for different investigators and that this build works around having and spending money more than others. You can tell your brand new Arkham best friend that it is crucial to find your weapons so that as the main combatter he/she/they can fight better. Thus mulligan for them.

Make sure to explain the different cards and mechanics as your friend plays them so that you don't overflow their little with information right away but they learn as they go.

  • .45 Automatic is there to show that some cards come in play with resources on them. When they're empty, you can't use them anmore.

  • Guard Dog, Lone Wolf and Safeguard are excellent and simple examples to show what does.

  • Shortcut, Glory and Dodge teach your buddy the meaning of Fast. In addition will Dodge show that you can play cards in other phases as well, like the Enemy Fase (After the scenario you should explain how bad that card really is, though), and Shortcut will teach about tempo.

  • Daring is a bit longer in text but is a great card and teaches about Retaliate and Alert and that some cards can only be played in specific scenarios and situations. This way, when you show your precious collection of cards you can explain that some cards are too situational to be good, and other cards are almost always good to have.

I for one am practicing my explanation skills and this method has worked great for me to help my friends help me win the campaign. I hope that with this method I can help you guys explain to your friends better how the game works and expand this amazing community with me!

Thank you all

For the sake of simplicity, I'd probably drop Faustian Bargain, curse stuff can be a little complicated. Depends on the player, I suppose.

Maybe for "Watch this!", which could also teach about over-success, skills with multiple different icons and the variety of effect skills can have.

I thought a lot about both of these choices. I think you're right, they both focus on money. I agree with you!
